Funny conversation..

My friend Jeff and I were discussing the ozone and pollution this morning... Although my brother in law would cringe if he knew that I, as well as my friend Jeff consider myself to lean towards the Green Party and being environmentally mindful. Jeff claims to be a leftist.. but let's just say he often opens his mouth to the right... I thought that part of this mornings conversation was very funny..

Jeff and in 5-10 years I'm betting that the hydrogen cars will be out and then no one will have anything to complain about

Jeff however, I just read a report in this mornings paper that they found a huge sill of oil in Canada

Jeff the Canadians are all fucken happy I bet

shaun great

shaun that doesn't fix the ozone

shaun if they harvest oil in Canada

Jeff now all the US has to do is finally just take Canada

shaun hahah

shaun INVADE

shaun I am all for it

jeff seriously

shaun I would be move to the 51st state

shaun British Columbia

jeff I don’t know why we didn’t do it years ago

shaun I would love to live in Vancouver

Please leave Canada alone - don't go get it ... it is so nice and spacious ... pleeease, leave it be! There's more than enough of America for the Americans. xox

Alright -

here is some free advice on the enviro front. A hydrogen car is a great thing. The problem is - you need a lot of hydrogen, which you can make from water, with one big drawback: You need a ton of energy to do so. So in order to get hydrogen to fuel your car, you need to burn a ton of fossil fuels to make the fuel. While this moves criteria polluants out of the city, it does very little about carbon dioxide emissions, which are thought to cause climate change.

As far as the hole in the ozone layer goes, we solved that problem. The cause of that hole were chlorinated hydrocarbons (CFCs for example), which we phased out with the Montreal Protocol. The only connection to oil and energy there is that CFCs were made from petroleum based products. Compared to howmuch diesel and gas we burn to drive ourselves around, this is nothing.

Dr. Nerd checks out.
